Gallatin maintenance company helps others run smoothly

Since 1997, Industrial Marketing and Consultants have been handling the services behind the scenes of other companies, providing skilled labor in machining, fabrication and welding - doing the jobs that helps other businesses do their jobs.

Industrial Marketing and Consultants provide a variety of services including machining, fabrication, welding and installation.

"IMC is basically an industrial maintenance company," says Butch Groves, owner of IMC. "On site we have machine shop services and fabrication services, but we also work in the field in a number of different plants here in Middle Tennessee, primarily."

 

 

One of their clients is Unipres in Portland, which produces parts for the auto industry. Another is Hoeganaes, which produces atomized steel powder.

Though in business for the past 15 years, it wasn't until 2011 that IMC moved into a bricks-and-motor building: a 42,000 square-foot facility on Calvert Drive in Gallatin. "We've always been in Gallatin, but for years we just kind of worked out of our trucks," Groves says.

They do all types of machining and lathe work and fabricate all types of material handling equipment, from simple racks to sophisticated conveyor systems. They also have the capabilities to install anything they build. They do a variety of welding too, working in mild steel, stainless and aluminum materials and maintain several portable machines to handle on-sight work. And, because several of their major customers are Japanese automotive companies, they maintain a complete complement of metric tooling.

Groves hopes for even more growth in the coming months, especially because last year was so good to them. "We feel like 2012 is going to be a good year for us," he says. "We had our best year in the history of the company last year, and we are trying to broaden our base of customers. We have purchased quite a bit of new equipment and beefed up our existing equipment. Our facility is big enough to handle larger contract work."

As for laying roots with the new building, Groves is optimistic about what is to come. "We are happy to be a part of the Gallatin community and look forward to many more years of success here," Groves says.
